Star Born Courage
The stars shine bright and distant Upon our blue swirled globe And I the child of their dust Rest my thoughts upon their majesty The flaming heat of their existence That reaches us as cool, faint, light Shining upon us equally Where we spin upon our globe By contrast my grand adventure Over continent and…
First Flight
Flying to Denmark was my first ever experience flying. The last time I was on a plane I was but a babe-in-arms so this was quite the adventure for me flying solo on my first time as I was. I flew on Icelandair which had a brief layover to change flights in Reykjavik, Iceland. First…
Sunrise in Copenhagen
Sunrise in Copenhagen Blushing pink and faded gold Arise to meet the lightened blue Sky of a new day. From Frederikssund to Copenhagen The train brought me from night to day From the blue-black sky With a waning moon Surrounded by a two-tiered halo Across Demark as the sky lightened Until the eastern sky was…
The City
The clock strikes every quarter hour Sirens wail in passing Cobblestone streets and pavement sprawl Covering up the soil as if to build A new world from the ground up A world built from blocks of stone From shining steel and gleaming glass Populated by pigeons, crows and seagulls The scavengers and us.
Stevns Klint
Soft white cliffs of chalk
Glowing with the golden sun
Studded with black shining flint
Curved around the bay of blue
Stretching up towards the sky
Blue whisked with white
Disappearing underground
Leaving dark cobbles
Of sea-smoothed flint
Against the water
An arcing shore
Of black below the bright cliffs.
Flint
Shards that gleam
With curved grains
With sharp beauty
Scattered on ledges
Or shaped into blades
Spear points, arrowheads, and knives
A stone to slice the fog,
Cobbles, pebbles, rounded, smoothed
Tumbled by the sea
Nestled in my hand
Dark black to gleaming amber
Sea-foam white to sky blue
Shining treasure on the shore
Flint.
My Valentine’s Day
Dark chocolate by the sea
Luxury and life
Water calm with gentle ripples
Pooled within Roskilde Fjord,
Lightly, lightly, wind is brushing
Over sea and over skin
Softly, softly, cold is sinking
From the surface deep within.
